Carole Boughter

Director of Development

I am the Director of Development and plan & coordinate MSHN Home for Children/MSHN’ Development work including fundraising, private giving, special events, foundation, grantwriting & social media. I’ve been working at MSHN for the past 10 years.

Engaging in consequential work with community-based nonprofits in progressive, social service, educational, cultural & philanthropic sectors helped to shape my career path, along with national, regional & local consulting work. Completing two master’s degrees at Bryn Mawr College’s Graduate School of Social Work & Social Research was a meaningful milestone, 15 years ago.

I am motivated by “doing meaningful nonprofit work,” where I can see incremental and sometimes systemic changes in the region. There is a wonderful “esprit de corps,” here at MSHN, that is rare.

I love spending time with family, traveling, biking & taking photographs.

What Brings Me Joy at MSHN

It has been a true gift to meet with a wide assortment of donors over the years, who are deeply invested in MSHN’s work & in those we serve. Their kindness & generosity are compelling!

Favorite MSHN Memory

During the pandemic, MSHN hosted multiple 140th Anniversary events & fundraising, virtually, in a way that felt authentic & celebratory. Recently, we marked the agency’s 145th Anniversary (& 15th Anniversary of Heritage Farm), onsite under tent! Quite a unique, festive evening!

A safe home. A caring hand. A chance to grow.

These aren’t luxuries—they’re the building blocks of a brighter future.
